History & Heritage

The Hogs have wandered to some of England's finest grounds — and always come home to Warnford

The Hampshire Hogs were founded in 1887 — the same year W.G. Grace was at the height of his powers. We are a declaration cricket club: we play the game properly, set targets, make games of it, and accept results on their merits.

For much of our history we were truly wandering — playing at grounds the length of Hampshire and beyond. The acquisition of our ground at Warnford changed that. We now have a home of our own: a beautiful ground in the Meon Valley, with a proper pavilion, a working bar, and a view that makes you grateful to be alive.

Warnford sits in the Meon Valley — one of the quietest, most beautiful corners of Hampshire. Our ground occupies a meadow on the edge of the village, with chalk downland rising behind.
